The Mount Rainier Pool is divided into two halves by a movable bulkhead. Both sides can have a six-lane 25-yard pool, with the other half as a 15-yard pool. The deep end reaches a depth of 12 feet and has two diving boards, while the shallow end is 3 feet to 3.5 feet. The pool temperature is 83-85 degrees. It was built in 1975 as part of the Forward Thrust Movement. The pool is the home site for the Mount Rainier Swim and Dive Teams, all Highline School District Dive Teams, and the Seattle Metropolitan Aquatics Team. In 2018, a new pool shell was added with improvements for water quality and an additional ADA lift for access to both sides of the pool.

SCHEDULE UPDATES:

REDUCED LANES: There will be reduced lanes on Monday, October 26 and Wednesday, October 28 from 7am-Noon.

$3 YOUTH RATE EXTENDED: Youth, ages 3-17, can come in and swim at Family and Open Swims effective June 22 through the end of the year. This is a great way for you and your family. Also, a reminder that parents that swim with their children will only need to pay and additional $2. See the schedule below for Family, Open and Lap Swim Times.

Get ready for a spooktacular time at our annual Halloween “Spooky Swim” event! Join us for an afternoon filled with, free treats, thrilling games, lively music, and an open swim featuring a diving board, water walk, and other exciting water activities. See below for a timeline of the fun and exciting events we have planned for this year!

Note there will be no pre-registration for the swim this year. All attendance is first-come, first-served.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR LAP AND FAMILY SWIMMERS: The pool will close at 12:30pm on Saturday, October 18 to setup this event.

Event check-in starts at 12:45 pm. All registrants will receive a ticket to enter the swim.

EVENT TIMELINE:

1pm – Event Starts/Swim Tests for Deep End Usage
1:15pm – Ghost Dive
1:35pm – Skeleton Slide Event (Water Walk)
1:50pm – Apple Bob Game in Deep End
2:10pm – Pumpkin Relay
2:45pm – 3-Month Family Pass Raffle Winner Announced
The Candy Corn Ring Toss and the Duck Scavenger Hunt will be going on throughout the event.

OVERFLOW PARKING: Overflow parking is available at Mount Rainier High School, which is next to the pool. Please do not park in front of residences.

Fees per Person: $3 for Youth, $2 for Adults

SWIM TEAM PRACTICES AND MEETS

The Mount Rainier Pool annually hosts swim practices and meets for the Mount Rainier High School Swim Team and combined Highline School District Dive Team. The practices are weekdays from 3-6pm and run November to mid-to-late February.

There will also be swim meets that run the following days from 3-6pm, and sometimes may run late.

The Boys Swim Meet Dates (Nov 13-Feb 19) have not been announced at this time.

The pool is proud to host the practices and meets that help children develop youth and physical fitness among other benefits.

REDUCED LANE DAYS

Below are days with reduced lanes due to hosted trainings, safety trainings and certification classes. These trainings usually take 1-3 lanes depending on size with an occasional training taking up all lanes. Lifeguard Certification classes will be updated within a couple of weeks of the training. This schedule is subject to change, so please refer to this schedule before planning your week. The pool will have lessons that may use 1-2 lanes for adult and higher level swim lessons on Saturday mornings, 8am-11:30am, and Monday through Friday evenings, 4-6:45pm.
